Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada thanks Ed Gibbs, President of Gib-San, for his significant accomplishments while serving as 2008 President of the Canadian Pool Council. The acknowledgment was made at the annual general meeting last November. During his tenure, Ed spearheaded the industry response to contentious Toronto fencing and water discharge by-law issues, initiated a successful search for a professional Executive Director for the Council, and refocused the Council’s vision, including a renewed commitment to education programs.
The Gib-San Creation Centre, an industry first, was designed to make the planning of new pools easier for homeowners. Not only can you see many pool features such as vanishing edges, waterfalls, water jets and automatic covers actually working on pools, but you can experience how easy it is to operate these features with the latest control systems. You can try safety features and see a variety of pool and patio materials for easy comparison. There are endless design ideas from the hundreds of pool and landscaping photo-blowups and video presentations. The Creation Centre is only open by appointment, so if you are interested please call 416-749-4361. Landscape architects visited the Creation Centre this spring. These architects from across the greater Toronto area were most impressed that in addition to being able to see hundreds of photos of pool settings, they could see water features actually working on the two pools at the centre.
Pool & Hot Tub Centre unveils new exhibits. New BioGuard pool care product displays have informative interactive signage to communicate product applications and benefits. The BBQ selection has been expanded to include a full-blown Outdoor Kitchen island for the gourmet chef. The Jacuzzi Hot Tub display shows off the break-through features on on their exciting new J400 Series.
Receive up to $1350 in Home Renovation Tax Credits (HRTC), 15% of the renovation expense between $1000 and $9000, for any pool and patio construction and renovation, or permanent hot tub, according to the federal government’s economic stimulus initiative.

Estate pool project near Regina. Gib-San has developed distant-build expertise over the years, having undertaken large estate pool builds from the island of St. Maarten to Regina, Saskatchewan. What started out to be a new pool build ended up with the design/build for the complete pool and landscaping for this 35-
Automated control systems add convenience. When you build or renovate your pool, plan on adding a Pentair Control System. Not only can it be progammed to operate your pool equipment to save energy, but you have the ability to remotely activate water features, pool and landscape lighting, as well as adjust water temperature and pump speed without getting out of your chaise lounge. 
Alternative to salt water pools. Salt water pools have become very popular over the past few years, and with good reason. They make the water feel soft and its maintenance easier. There is no handling of chlorine or other sanitizing chemicals because the system converts salt into chlorine. However many pool owners want another option. We recommend a DelOzone ozone system. Ozone is the only sanitizer that is 100% natural and biodegradable, reducing chlorine use by 60 to 90%, thus eliminating the concern of red eyes and irritated skin. It produces crystal clear water with one of the purest and most natural ways to enhance the quality of your water while ensuring the destruction of harmful bacteria, viruses, moulds and organic matter. 
Gemstone option for concrete pool finish. Instead of just re-plastering, why not give your pool an exciting natural pebble look. A Gemstone finish consists of pebbles delicately smoothed by nature, giving a textured finish that is non-abrasive and pleasing to the touch. Designer options are as many as as the mix combination of the different colours of pebbles. A Gemstone finish adds a richness, beauty and interest to your swimming pool.
Eliminate back-washing with a Pentair System 3 Modular Media Filter. You can forget about backwashing all summer with this cartridge filter system, but that isn’t the only benefit. Because it filters out particulate much smaller than a sand filter can, the result is much clearer more sparkling water. (Picture: filter is apart to show cartridges) 
The ladder must go. You won’t believe the difference steps will make to the enjoyment of your pool. If you are ready to renovate, you must add steps. Not only is it easier to get in and out, but they become a great play area for children and a sunning spot for everyone. Depending on the shape of your pool there are options from wedding-cake style steps that fit under the liner to formed steps and sunning benches that integrate into the liner. Steps are just one of many enhancements our design consultants can show you that will modernize and add more enjoyment and value to your pool. 
Making a small yard your resort! - Have you ever wondered if your yard is big enough for a pool? You might be amazed at the resort-like setting you can create even in a small backyard where the only thing you forfeit is your grass, and the chore of cutting it! Well placed trees create visual privacy blocks. Waterfalls or waterjets can mask-out neighbourhood noise. You can have a small pool with some neat water features or if you like exercising a swim-in-place very small pool with water jets to swim against.
