Pool
Opening Tip … if opening your own pool:
When you first open your pool, an appropriate amount of shock
and algaecide should be added to the water to take care of
contaminates from the long winter. After three days of circulation,
bring a water sample into the Pool & Spa Centre at 5324 Dundas
Street West in Etobicoke for free water testing to see what is
required to establish a good chemical balance for the season.
It is important to start out the season with properly balanced
water to avoid problems for the rest of the season. Come and see
us at the Retail Centre for your Pool Opening Chemicals and stock
up for the season.
Spa/Hot Tub Maintenance Tip
How often do you have to change the water in your spa or hot tub?
This is something that depends on how often and how many times
you use it. The rule of thumb is to drain & clean your hot
tub 3 or 4 times a year. By bringing in a water sample to us at
the Gib-San Pool and Spa Centre we can determine when a fresh
fill is due based on the test results. Typically, late winter
or early spring is a good time to drain water that has been in
the tub all winter long. Filter cartridges should be hosed down
regularly (about every two weeks) and thoroughly cleaned with
SpaGuard
Filter Brite every 4 weeks.
